Moving Our Wooden Picnic Table
I swear the heaviest item in our entire house is our wooden picnic table, it's been in our family for three generations now and was originally made from purpleheart wood which is a very very heavy wood...
When you look at your typical wooden picnic table it may not seem like much. This unassuming piece of yard furniture is quite deceiving especially if you are set on moving the thing. This task may not appear to be a great challenge but our wooden picnic table is the single most difficult piece of outdoor furniture to move.
On my quest to lose 10 pounds this summer I decided to volunteer to mow the lawn every week. This activity is great exercise and it also gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I am finished. One of the benefits of doing such a task is that you naturally work out without even thinking about it.
Adding a little lawn mowing to your weekly exercise routine is a wonderful way to keep your yard looking great and a wonderful way to keep you in shape as well especially if you add moving our wooden picnic table into the mix.
My husband watches our daughter while I toil in the yard for about an hour. This gives them some time to bond while I get to think, take care of the lawn and work out all at the same time.
On my fist adventure on the lawn mowing expedition I decided that I needed to cut ever single blade of grass I could reach with the mower. Some of the grass was under our wooden picnic table so my only option was to move it to get access to the grass.
After about eight minutes of struggling with the remarkably heavy wooden picnic table I had to shut off the mower that was politely idling for me. This thing would not budge.
| I had no idea how heavy a wooden object could be. Of course, my attempts at moving our wooden picnic table yielded no results so I went back to mowing around the object. |
My husband found my adventure to be quite entertaining while he and my daughter laughed at mommy wrestling with our wooden picnic table. At least someone had a good time. Now I simply mow my way around the object. My husband is handy with the weed whacker and he is great at trimming up after me.
I must say this experience has given me a new appreciation for our wooden picnic table. Certainly no one is going to steal it nor is any hurricane going to blow it away.
