A Wood Burning Stove Is Nice To Have!

I love the old time days and the stories about how our forefathers used to camp and cook around  a fireside for warmth and food of course hence the reason I have a wood burning stove in my home.

Almost any home in the United States will need heat at some point. Even those who live in the southern most states have a need for heat on occasion, usually in the evening or overnight. When it comes to heating you have many options, but if you are looking to save some money, you might want to consider a wood burning stove. These are often the cheapest form of heat for a home, but they do require some work and maintenance.

There are two kinds of wood burning stove you can buy. The most common kind is in the home, and the other kind is outside. My parents opted for an outdoor stove to save money, but it is more complicated than an indoor stove. The stove itself is outside, but you need to have heating ducts and vents installed in the house.

The wood is put into the fire outside, and an electrical motor blows the heat through the ducts. Because my parents have an unlimited supply of free wood, this was a great choice for them.

Even if you don’t have free wood, you may find buying wood for a wood burning stove to be inexpensive, and it can be delivered to your home.

A Wood burning stove isn't just for homes. Many won’t use the indoor version because it can be messy, and they don’t like the smoke that can come with using one. Some people use both the indoor and outdoor version to heat garages and other detached buildings.

This saves them from the expense of installing an electric or oil burning heating system, and is very easy to maintain. They do require some cleaning, but cleaning is often quick and easy, if not a little messy.

If you are considering wood burning stoves, you can find them in most home stores, and online.

If you shop at a home store, you can have a salesperson help you when you choose a model. There are different sizes, and they can help you choose one for your house size and your particular needs. If you don’t want to mess with wood, you can find a wood burning stove that use pellets instead of wood.

These are small, and quite often very effective at heating a small home. For a larger home, you may have to get two units. With the rise cost of gas, many families are looking into these because they are small, safe, cheap, and easy to use.

Recently I bought some wood working equipment and made wood shelving for the garage, a wooden register for my business, a wood doll house for my daughter and a few baby wooden toys. Of course I am sure you guessed by now I have wood floors throughout my home.

I am currently working on a wooden gazebo but its taking time. For the warmth however despite the cost of wood as opposed to pellets, I am sticking to the nostalgia of having a wood burning stove in my home.
